Choo Choo Your Food

We’ve all heard chew your food 30-40 times to get the most nutrients from your meal. But did you know you can actually tell if a carbohydrate is good for you by paying attention to your taste buds when chewing? Glands around the wall of your mouth secrete enzymes to begin the breakdown of your food and kick-start the digestion process. One particular enzyme, amylase, is responsible for the break down of carbohydrates. When chewing good “complex” carbohydrates like those derived from fruits, vegetables and grains you’ll notice they become progressively sweeter the longer you chew. This is due to amylase breaking down the food into its simpler sugar and glucose components. On the flip side, “simple” carbohydrates like those found in ice cream and candy bars will become progressively more bland the longer you chew. The benefit of ingesting good carbohydrates is better more sustainable energy. So, next time you sit down in front of a plate of brown rice and broccoli, pay attention to your taste buds!!

I don’t know about you, but someone should give the webmaster a medal for the many months of cramming HTML/CSS programming into his already “jammed” head!

On occasions it almost came to this:
